It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hip-Hop stalwart Rebel Rodomez. He was more than an amazing artist, he was a pillar in the underground Hip-Hop community, regularly collaborating on records with legends such as Benny the Butcher, Kool G Rap, Sadat X, Nature, E. Smitty and many others. The legend from Boston Ave passed over on Thursday July 7th after a hard fought battle with colon cancer.
Speaking with E. Smitty his manager and great friend: “Rebel advised me of his cancer almost 2 years ago, he asked me to keep his battle private out of respect for his wishes, we did not announce the complications. Rebel and I were best of friends, I called him “Unc” and he called me nephew. We joked candidly, my nicknames for him were “milk dudd” and I always reminded him to wax that bald head.”
Rebel Rodomez brought energy, talent, writing ability and amazing vocal tones to the microphone, he should be definitely considered for the hiphop hall of fame. We send prayers to his family, friends and frenemies, let’s celebrate Rebel’s legacy by putting his music on repeat. Rest In Peace!
